Ricardo Nogueira

Biography

It began at a very early age with a passion for caving, which was joined by climbing and mountaineering. At the age of 20, he climbed Kilimanjaro and climbed the equatorial ice of Mount Kenya. Ricardo is passionate about adventures. He crossed the Atlantic in an 11 meter sailboat to the Caribbean and there were countless trips by car: the Balkans, the Sahara Desert to the Sahel, the Black Sea to Russia, the Caucasus, and many others. He has climbed mountains in the Alps, Pyrenees and Atlas. Passionate about big and small walls.

He worked in Cape Verde, visited caves in China and Vietnam, mountains in Patagonia, Kyrgyzstan and Nepal, dived with sharks in the Philippines...

What does this mountain make you feel?

Serra de Aire has a characteristic that makes it unique and very special: the limestone. Being part of the Estremenho Limestone Massif, the largest limestone massif in the country, it is a paradise for those who like caves, like me. This special karst landscape also makes the people who live here special. The scarcity of surface water, the soil covered in rocks, the torrid summers and freezing winters shape the people and their way of living.

I spend a large part of my life here; I am a deep lover of this landscape. On cool mornings, it's in Minde Polje that I run my runs, the most magical place I know. It is in these mountains full of caves and caves that I live many of my adventures. Exploring the underground world that surrounds me is my passion. This is the place that fulfills me!
